How rugged is the cooler?

Why do I need the internal bag?

This cooler has been tested on the trails in the Arizona desert in the dead of Summer!  With outside temperatures reaching 123°F, with an average of 117°F and Jeep interiors reaching 198°F. Arizona provides an excellent proving ground.  You can't beat the quality, durability, and utility of these coolers!

What's the cooler made of?

The coolers are made of a heavy duty 720D nylon canvas, with a steel-roller embossed PVC bottom, sturdy straps that wrap around for extra strength, padded carrying handles on the top and sides, heavy duty zippers, and an expandable cargo cord on top.  The interior lining is guaranteed not to leak as long as it is not punctured.

How much can it hold?

The total capacity of the large cooler is 56qts.  Which means it's as large as a regular sized hard ice chest.  It can hold two (2) cases of canned beverages plus ice!

The total capacity of the smaller cooler is 28qts.  It can hold one (1) case of cans plus ice!

Does each cooler come with the internal bag?

Yes!  Both the large cooler and the small cooler come with a utility bag.

The purpose of the internal bag is for use with sharp objects such as knives, forks or tools so these don't puncture the interior liner of the cooler and cause a leak.  The handles make it easy to remove and carry with you.

How long does it hold ice?

That depends on what is placed in the cooler with the ice, how full the cooler is to reduce movement, and of course how much ice is put in the cooler.  With the cooler full of ice we've performed tests  with temperatures never falling below 100°F for 48 consecutive hours. After 48 hours we had just over half of the ice remaining.  Your results will vary depending on what is placed in the cooler how much ice is used and how full the cooler is loaded.

I have an Insta-Trunk in my Jeep, will it still fit?

Although it's a soft-sided cooler, and can be formed around various objects, it is not recommended that the cooler be used with the trunk in the closed position.  However, the cooler will fit on top of the trunk but it's recommended that it be strapped to the roll bars using a strap attached to the side handles.  It will also fit behind the front seats on the floor.  Again, we suggest that it be strapped to the roll bars using a strap attached to the side handles.
